Internet may seem like a dangerous place,
Fake news, filter bubbles… Lenny Face ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I also admit that it can be distracting,
But wait, are we sure we’re not overreacting?

Most of these problems are not really new,
My grandma’s political sources were equally few,
And thousands of years before current reports,
Socrates blamed akrasia — on written words!

Can we pause the hysteria for a couple of moments?
I’d like to read you some encouraging comments:

“I’ve learned more than any school could teach me!”
“If you still love me, you know how to reach me,”
“I now see that all energy can be renewable,”
“I played this song at my hamster’s funeral🐹”

People grow businesses, learn how to trade,
Find a passion for crocheting, and… get laid.
That is what is wonderful about cyberspace,
We each find a refuge, our nook in this place!

If we let bureaucrats censor disagreeable data,
Saddle sites with GDPR, when they’re still in beta,
If parents start tracking their kid’s every click,
We risk losing the anarchy that makes Internet tick.
